The studio

Small studio.
Serious pipeline.

Barely Coded is founder-led and small on purpose. One person owns the vision and makes the final call. A tight production pipeline handles the build, the art and the testing around the clock. That's how a studio this size ships a 3D online world.

01

Playable beats perfect

If you can't play it, it doesn't count. Everything we make gets into players' hands early and gets better from there.

02

Built to last

Real servers, real backups, real rollbacks. The name is a joke. The infrastructure isn't.

03

One link to play

No launchers, no store pages, no overnight patches. If it runs in a browser, it runs for you.

Why “Barely Coded”?

Because the fastest way from an idea to something you can play is to stop polishing the idea. We ship it barely coded, then make it great alongside the people playing it.

Rook

Founder & Creative Director

Rook spent his career on the infrastructure side of tech, keeping other people's systems fast, secure and online. Eventually he got tired of keeping the lights on for everyone else and started building worlds of his own.

He runs Barely Coded the way he'd run any good crew: a clear vision, short feedback loops and nothing goes live until it's been played. He sets the direction, picks the fights worth having and signs off on every release.

Why Rook
The chess piece. Moves in straight lines, guards the castle and tends to matter most at the end of the game.
Off the clock
Back roads on two wheels. Long walks in the bush.
Rule #1
Every server gets a backup. Every player gets a second chance.

Rook lets the work do the talking. For now.
